Meet the Maker ~ Louise Keogh from Blue Daisy

Our first ever Meet the Maker interview is with the lovely Louise Keogh from Blue Daisy! Louise's vintage style designs are always beautifully tailored, with thoughtful details and are ethically made from quality fabrics. We adore this beautiful label, so without further ado, let's get to know a little bit more about Blue Daisy!

Q. Please start by telling us how Blue Daisy’s story began.

Blue Daisy's story began in Manila, the Philippines. My husband and I were living there for a few years and that is where my first child was born. I had lots of trouble finding breathable garments for my daughter Isabella. One of my friends there suggested buying my own fabric and asking a seamstress to make garments for Isabella. It started off just for personal wear and then it grew to a small shop on Etsy. Blue Daisy now has since grown even more and I now work with a great manufacturer in China.

Q. Where do you find inspiration for your beautiful designs?

Most of my inspiration now comes from my daughter Isabella. She is now 7 and is very opinionated with what she would like to wear! I try to design garments that she has input on so that she will be happy to wear the garments.

Q. Which is your favourite piece that you’ve created?

The Seasons Dress would be my most favourite piece from Blue Daisy. I love that it is a classic dress that won't go out of fashion and is versatile for both casual play dates or party princesses.

Q. What has been your favourite part of this journey so far?

My favourite part of the Blue Daisy journey is the fact that I have created something that is mine. I love being a Mum but I know one day my kids will have grown up and moved out and I love that I have this business to baby forever, or at least it has given me the experience to grow other businesses in the future. I love that I have a creative outlet which I think helps me mentally in the everyday Mum routine.

Q. How do you balance work and mum life?

Now that my two children are at school and pre-school it is fairly simple to balance the work and mum life. I try to get the work stuff done while they are at school and make a point not to pack orders etc on the weekends as I want to give my attention to them. However, next year will be interesting as my third baby is due in November so that will take away from the school hours that I enjoy now. I do have a very supportive husband though and I believe we will be able to manage it all.

Q. What do you think the future holds for Blue Daisy?

In the future I see Blue Daisy at pop up shops and available across Australia and the world in brick and mortar stores. I can't wait to expand the brand and look forward to the adventures and challenges ahead.

I hope that you have enjoyed getting to know Louise and her gorgeous little label! We are delighted to be one of the first stockists of Blue Daisy and hope that you love Louise's designs as much as we do!
